ABOUT:
The Centre for Music Composition & Performance - CMPC opened in spring 2010 its new space, “ABOUT:”, located in the historical city center near the Acropolis in Psiri, one of the liveliest districts of Athens. On 18 Miaouli Street, just 50 meters away from “Monastiraki” metro station, the new venue occupies the first floor of a building that still roofs leatherwear manufactures. Maria Aloupi and Andreas Diktyopoulos personally supervised the design and renovation of this new space, configured to host contemporary art projects
(visual arts, music etc).
ABOUT: is an active creative project space, which will be presenting original projects – art events and will host relevant seminars and conferences. It will also be roofing the CMPC offices.

Centre for Music Composition & Performance
The Centre for Music Composition & Performance (CMPC) implements independent productions and projects at festivals and other cultural events organized by municipalities, museum, institutes, cinemas, theatres, cultural centers and concert halls both in Greece and abroad, as well as at private, independent venues.
In 2010, the Centre for Music Composition & Performance (CMPC) creates ABOUT: , a new cultural space that will function as a Cultural Center, on the basis of an annual artistic and educational program.
In its 3 years of operation,
from January 2007 till December 2009, approximately 15.000 people have attended concerts, festivals and other events and over 1000 people have attended the lectures and the seminars, organized by CMPC with the aim to educate and inform the public.
Past CMPC’s activities include:
- 16 productions of Concerts for Contemporary and Classical Music.
- A five-day mix art Festival, ElectroMediaWorks '08, including 42 concerts by organizations and artists from 25 countries and the presentation of 150 works and installations.
- The 2nd Tribute to Iannis Xenakis at the National Museum for Contemporary Art (EMST), 15 September – 11 October 2009.
- A series of 30 lectures & 10 seminars
- Participations in project by visual artists.
- Screenings of short film productions.
- Commissions for the composition of music works by Greek composers, with the aim to organize concerts and produce CD’s with works by Greek composers, for Nova Musica Label in Paris.
- Hosted and supported conferences and events organized by other organizations.

New CMCP project space
I am in the pleasant place to announce that purchasing new space for the Centre for Music Composition & Performance (www.cmcp.gr) next to Monastiraki metro station in the historical center of Athens. The space this moment is renovated and will be ready in April 2010 to host interesting events around the music and arts.
